Female Empowerment Podcast on ADHD
Women with ADHD do not deflect criticism from other people. Rather, they internalize it. They always assume that they are at fault for the bad things that happen to them. What’s worse is that as women they are expected to take up various roles without complaint or struggle. This is one reason they actually struggle to keep up. They feel like failures.
Overcoming the Struggles
If you have ADHD, there are things that you can do to overcome those hurdles. One is to pay attention to the voice that you hear in your head. You may be accustomed to self-deprecating thoughts. Instead of listening to the voice, you should confront it and refute it when necessary.
Each time you make a mistake, you must silence your thoughts. If you are thinking that you are dumb and that’s why XYZ happened, then you should push back. You must always remind yourself that you did your best under the circumstances. Instead of reprimanding yourself too much, you must make an effort to dismiss the negative thought. Learn the lesson. Doing so will help you improve your internal monologue.
Avoid Berating Yourself
There are times when you actually did make a tiny mistake. And even for those tiny mistakes, you berate yourself tirelessly. But this is wrong. Instead of doing so, you should tell yourself that such a mistake won’t bother you in five years. For instance, if you have spilled a glass of red wine on your boss’s dress, neither of you will remember that incident five years from now. Thus, instead of telling yourself, you’re stupid for accidentally spilling it, you must not dwell on it for weeks or months. But you can allow yourself to feel ashamed or angry for five minutes. After that, you need to let go.
Don’t Lose Sight of Your Dreams
When you were still a little girl, you had dreams for yourself. But as you grow older, you tend to lose sight of your dreams. You can reignite them. Doing so will help you become the best person you can be. Thus, starting now, you can begin searching your past and remember your forgotten aspirations. Take steps to make them a reality. You don’t have to quit your job just now. Instead, take small steps to achieve your dream. Do something that will open a path to new opportunities so you will realize your full potential.
Avoid Hiding Your ADHD Personality Traits
You should not be hiding your true self. It is exhausting. You have a choice. Don’t wear your mask. Instead, live authentically. How?
Listen to the female empowerment podcasts of Johari and Sarah. They talk about how to live authentically by not wearing any mask to hide who you are. You can listen to their podcasts on Spotify, Pandora, and Stitcher.
